Thanksgiving is always a great time to talk about gratitude with children. Here is a little Thanksgiving emergent reader for you. The reader will be a great addition to your Thanksgiving themed activities and a discussion of gratitude during the month of November. But don’t think that the books can only be used in November….They can also be used any time of year.
I enjoy making all kinds of learning games and activities for kids. I don’t mind spending time on the construction of the activities because they can generally be used over and over again. Emergent readers, however, are something that I never enjoyed assembling. I just didn’t like all the copying, cutting, collating, and stapling. That’s why I created these easier-to-assemble emergent readers.
The little books print 4 per page. To assemble you just need to print, place a set in a pile, staple the edges, and cut to into the 4 separate readers.
Check out the video above to see a quick tutorial. It’s great for all of you visual learners who like to see how it’s done.
Now that you have assembled the emergent reader, you can see that the simple, repetitive text is perfect for young kids.
I have also included a blank page so that kids can customize with their own drawings and/or writing. You can even add more than one blank page so that you kids will have additional opportunities to add their own thoughts. The Thanksgiving emergent reader is listed as a freebie in my TPT store.
