Everything You Need to Make an Easy Turkey Play Dough Activity
Use this material list to create an easy turkey play dough activity for your kids. They will love this Thanksgiving theme invitation to play.
Don’t hate me when I make this confession.
I have never liked handprint turkeys.
There…I said it. Do you remember making Thanksgiving turkey handprints when you were a kid? EVERY…SINGLE…YEAR!?
Instead of sharing a new twist on a turkey handprint activity, I will show you a few simple items you can use to create a fun turkey play dough activity.

What to Add to the Turkey Play Dough Activity Tray
Here are material ideas that you can add to make a fun turkey playdough tray.
- feathers
- googly eyes
- toothpicks
- pipe cleaners
- pony beads
- corn, popcorn, seeds, etc.
- craft sticks
- strips of ribbon or curling ribbon
- sequins or gems (for a fancy pants turkey)
- number cards
- cardboard pieces
- plastic bottle caps
If your kids can’t share supplies, don’t worry. You can use the ideas below to create individual playdough kits for your kids.
Do you have additional ideas? I would love to hear them in the comments. Your kids might be able to help you come up with some great material ideas too.
Open Ended Turkey creation!
Now, comes the fun part. Present the turkey playdough activity materials to your kids and see what they create. Kids may create turkeys, or they may create some other kind of amazing artwork. The materials will give them lots of opportunities for open-ended creation and for fine motor skills practice.
Let them have fun!
Turkey Playdough Counting Practice
Add some number cards to the tray and kids can practice counting as they play. Kids can make 5 turkeys, a 5 feathered turkey, or even a 5 eyed turkey.
I hope that you have fun creating a turkey play dough activity for your kids.
Don’t forget to take some pictures to share with your kids’ families. I bet that parents will enjoy a picture of a 5 eyed turkey even more than a turkey handprint drawing.
