Listen…. I know that crafts have a bad reputation in the preschool world. But there are many benefits of crafts for preschoolers. In fact, crafts provide an exciting, motivating, and meaningful way to work on fine motor skills…which many kids are struggling with these days.
I’m NOT telling you to replace process art activities with crafts, but I am saying that fine motor crafts do have a place in the preschool classroom….and I know that you are going to love these printable fine motor crafts because they were designed to help kids build fine motor skills.
Now, let’s take a look at some fun and easy Earth Day crafts for preschoolers.
Earth Day Recycling Truck Craft
Get ready to hit the road with this adorable recycling truck activity. I think it’s just a perfect project for Earth Day! Don’t you think?

This craft is more than just cutting and pasting – it’s designed specifically to work on fine motor skills.
The great thing about this printable cutting and pasting activity is that it can be easily adapted to suit the needs of children with different abilities. The fine motor craft has two printing options. There is a one-page no-prep option. You can print it out, give it to your kids….and go. They can color, cut, snip, punch, and assemble it.

The other printing option allows you to customize the activity for kids with different fine motor abilities. You can print each of the parts on separate pieces of paper. This gives you the ability to print pages on different paper colors.

Also, if your kids aren’t ready to cut out all the pieces, you can cut and prep some of the pieces for them and let them cut some of the simpler pieces.
Your kids will get plenty of cutting practice as they cut out the different parts of the truck on the heavy black line. The printable has some dotted lines that kids can trace. This pre-writing activity will help them develop finger control and strength while holding a crayon.

But that’s not all – there are even printed circles on the garbage truck. Get out your best hole punch and let your kids make holes in the circles. Hole punch activities are a great way to build hand strength…and kids LOVE using a hole punch.
Simple Earth Day Seedling Craft
This sweet seedling craft is not just cute…it will help your kids build real skills.

Your kids will have plenty of opportunities to practice cutting, tracing, snipping, and pasting as they assemble the different parts of the craft.
And let’s not forget about the holes to punch out, which provide an excellent way to build up grip strength and hand-eye coordination.

The finished product is a cute and colorful creation that your little ones will be proud to show off. So grab your scissors, glue, and hole punch, and get ready for some crafting fun!
Earth Craft
You can celebrate Earth Day with this adorable “I Love the Earth” round frame craft.

This craft is a great way for kids to show their appreciation for the planet while also getting in some fine motor skill practice. Kids can start by cutting out the printable craft, then trace along the dotted lines to create the frame.
The frame also includes circles just begging to be punched out! This provides an excellent opportunity for kids to practice their hand-eye coordination and build hand strength.

Once the craft is completed, kids can proudly display it on a wall or fridge to show off their love for the Earth.
Recycling Truck Name Craft
Customize this recycling truck coloring sheet with your kids’ names for a super easy Earth Day craft. Your kids can add dot stickers or apply dots with bingo markers for some fine motor fun on the top and bottom border.

Tearing Paper Earth Day Crafts
Get ready to tear things up with these fun and creative crafts that involve paper tearing! The first idea is creating artwork with torn recycled paper, which is not only a great way to reuse old paper but also a fantastic way to build hand strength. Tearing paper requires the use of the small muscles in the hands and fingers, which can help to develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

The second idea involves tearing paper and pasting it onto a printable image of the Earth, which is a great way to reinforce the importance of recycling and taking care of the planet. Not only is this activity fun and engaging, but it helps build those important fine motor skills.

So break out those scissors and let your little ones tear their way to stronger hands and a cleaner planet!
Earth Day Crowns
Need a cute project for your Earth Day celebration? Give these Earth Day crown crafts a go. The printable set includes 4 options. Two of the options include small circles in the design that are perfect for hole punching.

The other two designs include larger circles that are perfect for adding dot stickers or a dab of paint from a dot marker.

Earth Day Dot Marker Painting
If you are looking for a simple craft or Earth Day fine motor activity for younger preschoolers, these dot marker pages are perfect.
The pages include circles where kids can apply a dot of paint, AND each image also includes dotted lines to help kids work on pencil grip and control.

Earth Day Q-Tip Painting
Here is another easy Earth Day craft with minimal prep. Q-tip painting is a project that really keeps kids engaged and focused as they add dabs of paint to color the images.
Then, they can use their paint-filled q-tip to trace the letters in the word and the borders of the designs.

This Earth Day q-tip painting set includes images like recycling symbols, The Earth, recycling trucks, seedlings, trees, and more. For older kids with a longer attention span, the set also includes a full-page option.
Flower Earth Day Craft
Flowers are also an important part of nature, so it’s only fitting to talk about flowers on Earth Day. These printable flower craft like the Earth Day crafts above are perfect for building fine motor skills!
Kids can start by cutting out the flower shape, which provides excellent cutting practice for little hands.

They can then use crayons for a pre-writing activity as they trace the dotted lines on the printables. Like the other activities, these also provide an opportunity to build hand strength with some hole punch activities.
Once the flowers are complete, kids can proudly display them on a bulletin board to add a touch of springtime to any room.
