Check out these fun playdough activities for fall. Find lots of ideas for materials that you can add to an autumn-themed invitation to play.
I love to gather different thematic materials for kids to use for creating and playing. When I was a kid, I didn’t have a lot of toys, so I had to get very creative with what I could find around the house and yard. I had a blast creating things from sticks, flowers, fabric, etc.
Today, I gathered a bunch of materials together to create a fun fall-themed playdough tray. This activity will work well for many of your fall themes from pumpkins to Halloween to Thanksgiving. So, if you are looking for some playdough activities for fall be sure to read on.
If your kids can’t share supplies, don’t worry. You can use the ideas below to create individual playdough kits for your kids.
Gather Your Materials
Be creative when you gather your materials. Check your stash craft supplies and seasonal party supplies. You probably already have a bunch of stuff that you can use for this open-ended activity. I have included a few affiliate links at the bottom of this post for your shopping convenience. If you purchase something from a link, there will be no additional cost to you, but a small portion of your purchase will be used towards the cost of maintaining this website. Here are the materials that I added the following materials to a divided tray:
- wood cookies
- small silk leaves (sold as table confetti at my craft store)
- small pumpkins (vase filler that I picked up on clearance)
- plastic acorns (more vase fillers)
- fall themed number cards
- play dough

I love to see what kind of creations kids make.
Do you want to add some math or literacy learning opportunities? Add number cards or letter cards to the container. The number cards pictured here are part of the fall tree bundle from my store. Kids can work on number and letter formation by making the numerals or letters from the materials. They can also work on counting when they make number sets with the materials.
Maybe your kids will make games or number trees. The possibilities are endless. They will have a blast playing with the materials.
