Tip: Pre-cut paper into strips to make tearing easier for younger kids. As they build strength, let them tear larger pieces on their own.

W is for Wagon Craft Idea: Use red, blue, yellow, or any bright color for the wagon! Kids can tear pieces to fill in the wagon shape. Add black paper for the wheels. You can even add small torn pieces inside the wagon to show it’s full of toys or flowers. This craft works beautifully during transportation themes or when learning about playtime and toys.

W is for Watermelon Craft Idea: This is such a fun summer craft! Use pink or red paper for the watermelon flesh. Add green paper for the rind. Kids can tear small black pieces or use a marker to add watermelon seeds. This is a great opportunity to talk about healthy foods, fruits, and summer. Perfect for summer themes, or healthy eating units.

W is for Walrus Craft Idea: Use brown, gray, or tan paper for the walrus! Kids can tear pieces to fill in the walrus shape. Add two white strips for the tusks, or draw them with a white crayon or marker. You can even add googly eyes! This craft is perfect for ocean themes, arctic animal studies, or zoo units.

Snipping and Pasting

Do your kids need to work on scissor skills? Cut paper into thin strips (about 1 inch wide). Kids make single snips to cut the strips into small pieces, then glue them onto the image. Simple Coloring

Sometimes you need something super quick, and it doesn’t get any easier than using the printables as coloring pages. Your kids can color the letter or image with crayons or markers. It’s simple and still builds letter recognition.

Painting

If you’re ready for a little mess, provide watercolors, tempera paint, or dot markers. Kids enjoy the sensory experience, and it strengthens their hands as they control the brush or dauber.

Watermelon Seeds: For the watermelon craft, use pink or red paint for the fruit and green for the rind. Then use a black dot marker or paint to add watermelon seeds!

Mixed Media

Let kids get creative by combining methods. Tear paper for the main image, then add details with crayons. Or color first, then add torn paper accents.
