Fall Trees & Leaves Craft Activities
Let’s kick off with some fun fall trees and leaves crafts! From cut-and-paste projects to using colorful silk leaves, these activities will bring autumn indoors while giving kids lots of chances to practice their fine motor skills.
Cut and Paste Fall Tree Craft
This cut-and-paste fall tree is part of my Fall Fine Motor Craft bundle. Your kids can practice their cutting skills as they cut out the parts on the bold black lines or snip around the edge of the tree. There are dotted lines so that kids can work on making lines with a crayon, and they will have a blast building hand strength as they punch holes in the design.
These printable fine motor crafts can be adapted for kids of all ages and with different skill levels. Older kids can cut out all the parts, while younger kids will need a little help. To learn more, check out this blog post about strategies to differentiate craft activities.
Hole Punch Fall Leaves Crafts
These fall leaves are from the same printable craft set. Kids can glue the stems to the leaves, outline the veins, and add a hole punch decorative element to each leaf. Have you tried hole punch activities? They are a motivating way to help kids build strength in their little hands.
Fold and Cut Fall Leaves Crafts
You can also make fall leaf crafts with these printable cutting practice activities. The fold-n-cut- printables are also a great way to study symmetry. Feel free to supply additional craft supplies like crayons, washi tape, paint, glitter, sequins, googly eyes, etc., to encourage your creative kids to make the leaf shape that they cut out into a special work of art.
Leaf Collage
You can use silk leaves or go out on a nature walk to collect real leaves for collages and creative fall crafts. Supply plain orange construction paper so that your kids can make a process art activity. I like to cut a circle in the center of a paper plate to make a leaf wreath. You can also use fall leaves with this letter collage printable to work on literacy skills as you make a fun fall craft.
Fall Paper Chains
Okay, this one doesn’t have to be filed under fall leaf crafts, but I used these cute fall leaf strips for my example. You can use plain strips for your paper chains if you like. Your kids can apply dot stickers or punch holes in the strips to add some fine-motor fun to the craft. Stop by my blog post about making paper chains to find lots of fun ideas for counting, contests, pattern making, and more.
Paper chain crafts are great for the classroom, or it’s a fun way to get the whole family working together on a project at home.
Washi Tape Fall Tree
Paint a tree trunk on paper. Then, supply a variety of painter’s tape and washi tape. Your kids can cut small pieces of tape and apply them to the tree to make colorful leaves on this fall tree craft by Paper and Glue. You can also supply fall colored tissue paper to glue on the tree instead of tape.
Coffee Filter Tree Craft
I love these 3D fall trees by Our Kid Things. Your kids will have so much fun using markers and drops of water to color the coffee filters. That alone is a cute craft. Then, supply cardboard tubes (I prefer cutting paper towel rolls rather than using a toilet paper roll) to make the trunk.
Fall Leaf Name Coloring sheet
Customize this fall name coloring page with your kids’ names. Print them on white paper and supply crayons, markers, colored pencils, or paint for a super easy craft for your kids this fall season.
I like to customize the pages with fall-themed words as well. This is a simple craft that is perfect for Thanskgiving.
Apple Crafts for Kids
Apple crafts are always a hit in the fall! Start with a cute cut-and-paste apple craft that preschoolers can assemble or fun apple name crafts. These activities are fun, plus they are great for building fine motor and early literacy skills!
Cut and Paste Apple Name Craft
Here’s an apple basket printable name craft. Kids can cut out the apples and paste them in the basket to spell their names. In addition to cutting practice, the printable craft provides the perfect way for kids to get line tracing and hole punching practice.
Apple Name Coloring Sheet
The fall name coloring pages include an apple-themed coloring sheet for a super easy apple art and craft activity.
Cut and Paste Apple Tree Craft
I love these cute paper apple trees. Print the leaves on a variety of green-colored paper and print red, green, and yellow apples so that kids can mix and match the colors to make their own trees. Don’t you think they would make an adorable apple orchard bulletin board? You can also supply pom poms to use as apples.
Cut and Paste Apple
Here’s a cute apple craft that is part of the same printable set. Again, give your kids the ability to choose to make red, green, or yellow apples.
Pumpkin Crafts for Kids
Pumpkins are everywhere in the fall, and these pumpkin crafts are a great way to bring the fun indoors! From simple cut-and-paste activities to creative decorating, these cute fall crafts will keep little hands busy while celebrating the season.
Torn Paper Pumpkin Craft
Teachers always tell me that they are surprised by how excited kids get about paper tearing crafts and activities. I love how these simple, creative activities also are a great fine motor activity that builds hand strength and eye-hand coordination.
Water Bottle Pumpkin Craft
Here is a 3D version of a torn paper pumpkin by Motherhood on a Dime. Instead of glueing the orange torn paper like the pumpkin craft above, your kids can stuff the paper into a water bottle to make a cute pumpkin craft.
I think it would be cool to add some pumpkin seeds in the bottle as well. You can also wrap a green pipe cleaner around the top to create a vine, leaf, or stem.
Pumpkin Name Craft Activity
Just like the apple basket craft above, this printable name craft gives kids a chance to work on scissor skills, line tracing, and hole punching.
Dot Sticker Pumpkin Name Craft
Use dot sticker or bingo markers to complete this printable name coloring page craft.
Pumpkin Sun Catcher
Try out this pumpkin suncatcher from Life on Seas. Kids can apply a black face and then add yellow and orange tissue paper to clear contact paper.
Additional Fall Craft Ideas
There’s much more to fall than apples, pumpkins, and leaves. Here are some additional fall craft ideas for preschoolers.
Scarecrow Craft
You can print all the pieces for this scarecrow craft or you can use fun supplies like buttons, and straw to add a little pizzaz to the finished product. You can also encourage your kids to make the rest of the scarecrow’s body.
Paper Plate Scarecrow Craft
I also like this scarecrow craft by Finding Zest because it uses a paper plate for the head and has a simple triangle as the hat. I think it would look cute hanging on a front door in place of a wreath.
Sunflower Craft
This simple sunflower is a great craft as is, or you can add pom poms, seeds, glitter, or mare.
Well, there you have it. I hope I helped you out with all these ideas for autumn crafts.
